BRIEFING

Background

NVA Forces have accomplished a major offensive, capturing up to the coastal region of Sihanoukville, giving the NVA access to the southern coastline, threatening shipping. The 79th ARVN Infantry Division, having recently been provided with significant US material support, have been gearing up to recapture the region.

SITREP

1965-07-24 Yesterday we captured the Western Coastline of Sihanoukville harbour. With a solid foothold in the region, high command has asked us to extend northwards, to capture the airstrip and the surrounding hills. Taking capture of the airstrip will give us a route to evacuate critical casualties, and may pave the way for local air power to base in the region. We have also secured additional equipment, providing M2 Carbines for our Team Leaders.

Briefing

We'll be advancing north to secure the San Bay Ban airstrip. This airfield is home to a couple of Mi-2 helicopters, which if we can capture high command is likely to be very happy about. This airfield is pretty heavily defended, so expect emplaced guns, infantry and bunkers. We do know there are no other air assets operating in the area, so we are unlikely to face any enemy air threat. Once the airfield is secure, there are 3x NVA camps to the west. Locate and destroy these, else they will be a thorn in our side trying to get this airstrip up and running. Finally, there is an enemy forward HQ in the region. Our signals company has triangulated its position. We believe this may be a rare chance for us to capture an enemy codebook. They will likely burn the book within 5 minutes of your first attack, so please kill the radio operator quickly.
