Operation Probe

SITREP

Background:

2029. Former President Vladimir Putin was assassinated in a Ukrainian drone swarm attack, ending the war. A new president was elected, promising to uphold peace and aid in restoration efforts.
A nationalist sub-faction has split off from the nation and is demanding Russia be brought back to its USSR state. Both sides have taken up arms and been at war for 6 months now.

May 21st. The nationalists raided a Russian black site and successfully stole chemical weapons. Their leader has openly stated his intent of using the weapons to further aid in the nationalists' war efforts.
The United States of America, being the "hero" they've always been throughout history, joined the conflict on Russia's side with the objective of seizing the weapons.
Of course, we know there's more to it than just stopping the rebels, but that's a story for another time.

"Word on the chemicals is still null, but today might just be what we've been looking for." "Friendly unmanned reconnaissance spotted a mysterious site behind enemy lines, but before they could investigate further their vehicle was destroyed."
"HI-COM sanctioned a combined arms assault to breach the enemy frontline and secure the site codenamed 'X-Ray.'"
"This OP is dubbed "Operation Probe," and you are part of it."

"First order of things, getting into enemy territory."
"OPFOR has 4 elements set up in our assault area. Mainly infantry, with some vics and AT emplacements."
"Besides you folks, there will be 3 other friendly callsigns in the area: Foxtrot-2 IFV, infantry squad Charlie-3 and Tango-1 as logi."
"They already have their plan layed out, so it's up to you Yankee 1-6 to organise your subordinate elements."
"Foxtrot-2 will push towards points Miller and Woodrow while Charlie-3 takes out the AT at Jackson. They'll regroup and move to Martinez to take out the enemy mechanised."
"Once the enemy has been confirmed down, you'll be free to proceed north."
"This part of the plan is designated 'Irene.'"

"Securing site 'X-Ray' will be your main priority. How to go about it is your call."
"It would be appreciated if you folks could secure an MSR leading to the objective, in case anything needs to be hauled one way or another. If the payload turns out to be somewhere else, an extension of the route would be grant."
"Past the frontline, any intel regarding chemical weapons is to be reported up the chain of command immediately."
"If there will be any casualties or wounded affected by the payload, friendly or not, they are to be evacuated from the area for further investigation."
"During this OP you are expected to maintain a T-1 level CBRN readiness at all times."

"Your RoE for today is engage at will. Take in any PoWs and spare unarmed or wounded combatants."
"Minefields are very likely to be present, so keep good spacing and grab necessary equipment. In fact, one of our mechanised assets has got themselves stranded in enemy territory, at Point 'Nomad.' We do have a rescue party prepped for them, but it is due today evening, so if you could snatch them and their vic, I'm sure they'd greatly appreciate that."
"Outside the objective there are also 3 enemy strongpoints, labeled Punisher 1 through 3. Pretty minor, but would improve your ability to move in the AO."

"If you have any questions, now's the time..."

"How should we act if we do come in contact with the chemicals?"

"If possible, try to avoid unnecessary exposure, however if any of your objectives end up being contaminated, you will have to do your job and get out as soon as possible."

"If X-Ray has the payload, what's the plan then?"

"That depends. A single canister will be a good find but not what we're looking for. We want to secure as much of the gas as possible to deny the enemy the ability to use it for malicious purposes."

"Sorry- Gas? What kinda chems are we up against exactly..?"

"Ah, yes. Our Russian friends have decided to withhold that info from us, but intelligence suggests it's most probably Sarin gas. That's why it's most vital that you take CBRN seriously. Your medics should have access to Atropine and ATNAA autoinjectors, but there's only so much those can do."

Execution:

Objective Irene - breach the eastern frontline:
Together with Charlie-3 and Foxtrot-2 advance north and eliminate 4 enemy elements:

• Miller: Infantry
• Martinez: Infantry
• Jackson: Anti-Armor

Objective X-Ray - secure and investigate the site:
Move further behind enemy lines and assume control of site X-Ray.

• Aim to secure the area without excessive destruction, preserve any important equipment on site.
• Document and report your findings.
• Defend from enemy counter-attacks from the north, north-west and west.
  
  

OPTIONAL:

Objective Punisher 1/2/3 - secure strongpoints:
Sneak behind the frontline and clear out 3 emplacements.

Objective Nomad - Recover damaged vehicle and its crew:
Echo-5 is stranded on hostile grounds. Launch a rescue mission for the crew and attempt recovery of the APC.

Objective Guardian - secure a main supply route:
Once you have went deep enough into enemy territory, secure a safe route to move logistics along.
