BRIEFING

[SITREP]

Your previous venture has severely diminished the radar- and detection capabilities of the Horizon Island Defence Forces (HIDF). Furthermore, we’ve picked up some interesting chatter over the telecommunications tower you procured for us. It appears the commotion you caused a few nights ago has set the HIDF high command into crisis mode. A meeting of the HIDF General Staff was held early this morning relating to the incident, and our boys in Space Force Command have spotted troop movements from the Roche military district towards Tanoa. It seems we’ve caught the government’s attention, as the Horizon Ministry of War’s defence committee is holding an emergency meeting later this week, meaning we must accelerate our plans.

There’s more trouble in paradise it seems. Georgetown central hospital is suddenly flooding with patients suffering from an unknown disease resulting in a state of emergency being declared for the township of Ouméré. The Gendarme locked down the town approximately 3 hours ago and dispatched a quarter of the island’s police force there. Something is going on, and the brass wants to know what.

[BRIEF]

This will be a multi-part operation as well. Firstly, you are to move to Ouméré on the Southern Coast of the Tanoan mainland, neutralize any security forces there, and locate any technical evidence that could help us determine the source of the outbreak. Civilians will likely be in the AO, so watch your fire. You will inevitably be seen, so let’s mitigate the damage. Our sources indicate the gendarme is conducting their own field tests near the Banana Plantations, so that would be a good place to start looking. NB. With your success on Tuvanaka and Balavu, the government will be on high alert regarding unidentified commandos, and will likely respond to your actions with a heavy hand.

Secondly, you must move North and search the Red Springs surface mine for geological survey notes and the site foreman. ISC is interested in certain details of the mine you don’t need to concern yourselves with, however, it has come to our notice that the Tanoan Mining Company ltd. has conducted surveys and the data should still be there. If not, you need to secure whoever’s in charge of the site and bring him back unharmed. NB. The Horizon Islands government has leased out the mine’s security to the all-too-familiar ION PMC, who have seemingly bumped up security since your last encounter with them. Presume them to be hostile and highly agitated. Since Mr. Park got away from you in the last operation, keep your eye open for him, it is possible ION has moved him to their largest stronghold on the island. We don’t have high hopes that he is sheltered at a surface mine of all the places, but if he is, bring him in this time.

Security Forces

Horizon Islands Defence Forces – 3rd Air Assault Brigade

Horizon Islands Gendarmerie Horizon Islands Gendarmerie (HIG) will likely be lightly armed once more. Small arms ranging from sidearms to shotguns and some submachineguns, potentially hunting rifles. There is a likelihood of GIGN forces being present, meaning tougher body armour and assault rifles.

Horizon Islands Defence Forces – 3rd Air Assault Brigade According to our intel, the 3rd Air Assault Brigade is not a part of the quarantine operation. They are, however, on high alert and Brigadier General Alex Jacquemoud has been reportedly sighted quite agitated regarding your previous attack. You can expect them to respond via airborne QRF consisting of gunships and transport helicopters, as well as smaller land patrols with armoured patrol cars, transport trucks and potential armoured personnel carriers.

Private Entity

IoN Services Incorporated – Private Military Contractor Ion Services Incorporated has been tasked with the protection of the mining complex. Our sources suggest they have fortified checkpoints, mounted guns, well trained infantry and technicals. We have little information of their QRF, but you can expect technicals, lightly armoured transports and potential helicopter transports.
